If it’s just not running as well as it could, then you could be losing on energy efficiency, inviting harmful particulates into your home, and increasing the chance that you need an AC unit replacement.

- Dirty air filters, which can result in poor performance of your AC system as well as particulates and allergens not being blocked
- Clogged drainage lines, which could result in water leakage
- Electrical or wiring problems, which could result in communication or starting issues with components in the air handler or the blower motor, among other issues
- Compressor problems, which could result in inadequate cooling and affects ongoing heat exchange as well as the life of the equipment

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE PLACING A CALL FOR HVAC WORK
- Check that the thermostat is turned to “cool” or “heat” and that the fan is in “auto” position.
- Check that all breakers are in the”on” position.
- If you are participating in the FPL On-Call program, check to see if a red light appears. If so, your power may just be temporarily cut-off. If not, you may have a bigger problem.
- Check if the dehumidistat is set to “on”.
- Check to see that the filter is clean.
- Check if other appliances at home are functioning properly, because if not then the problem is unlikely to lie with your AC unit.
